Something different. I was looking at this a couple of days ago, its near Toowoomba in Queensland. The bodies were made by Ruskin, probably the largest Australian body maker back in the day.

Do you have it in your garage yet?

I've always thought that the Aussie slopers had much nicer lines than the Jefferson Avenue broughams.

That must be rare, hope someone saves it. The '36 lines are very nice I think with larger wheel openings in the guards and a narrower body.

Rocket, the owner has 2 x 36 slopers, and both are still available. Asking prices are to me somewhat high but I would leave you to discuss that with the owner, randallfraserATprdtbaDOTcomDOTau

RE seafreight, I work on AU$3500 to 4000 to bring a Hudson from Los Angeles port to Brisbane, whether the same applies going the other way I don't know.

I had mused that if you put a sloper shell on a spare 8cyl chassis, you would definitely have a one of a kind 36.
  • Yes I may be asking a bit much but will listen to all offers.

If Ruskin bodied they were timber frame.

Rocket, This would look good in your collection of 36's. You need another car?

1937 was Ruskin's first year for an all steel body. They (like much of the auto body industry) had been moving towards that goal for a few years, so by 1936 there was still some timber used in the construction but the shell was pretty much self supporting.

A restorer of one of these wouldn't be grappling with a carpentry project of the size and complexity of that required for Brownies gorgeous '36 LWB 8 for instance.

Did the Aussie ones have a part-wooden frame or is it all-steel?
