I purchased a Hudson Radio off ebay to go into the 51 Pacemaker I am working on. The number is CH 196288   749.
Radio does not power up hooked direct to battery with 6v and positive ground. Good fuse. What might I check at this point?

Kerry,  First thing to check is the vibrator.  If working it should be humming.  If not, sometimes a rap on the side of it will get it going again.  Bruce

Unless it is a solid state vibrator that someone installed in recent years.  Then it won't hum.

    Hi Kerry,

Other possibilities to check are defective tubes, capacitors, and resistors. Time takes its toll
on vintage radios that sit around.

Any electrolytic capacitor is going to be junk., The solid state vibrator eliminates the need for buffer caps too. A big improvement. Marconi is the man to go to.

There is a fellow in Florida that does electronic repairs, but I don't think he offers full restoration that included dials and chrome. He advertises in the WTN too.

  • I can recommend someone on the West Coast, if you're closer there. Did mine six years ago and still working fine...
