Gasket

Should there be a gasket between the plate that holds the rear axle bearing in place and the plate to which the brakes are attached? There is one on the passenger side, but not on the driver's side.
Thanks,

I assume you're working on the Dana axle, John.  The blow-up figure and parts list in the factory service info don't show a gasket there on either side; only between the backing plate and the "grease seal cap" on both sides.

    Ken,
Yes, I do mean the cap that holds the outer grease seal. This car has turned out to be the hornet from hell. A lot of things on the car are not correct and are causing more problems than I expected. Just one problem after another. Not to be deterred, I keep going and some day will get it road worthy thanks to all my forum friends.
    Thanks,

    John-

You bought the "Satan of Morimar" car?  LOL!  Sorry about your troubles!  Hang in there and solve 'em one item at a time.  In the end, it will be worth it.
