Well, Tom, I scrapped a 54 SW and have most of the front end but I'm as far away from you as anybody except the guys in New England.

Northville, NY    Parts   Fenders, Bumper, grill parts Hood ornament, no hood etc
  • Hi Tom,
I think I might have most of the front clip. I am located in Dallas and my dad and I bought a bunch of parts around the Portland, OR area. We have not gone through everything yet so not sure what all is there.

PM me if you would like to talk and we can go from there.
    Thanks!

It's pretty bent up. Gotta be better ones out there. I can't see how it differs from other stepdowns. Time to throw it on the 47 pickup with the other junk for the scrap yard.

The only interior stuff I have is the blue dash and instrument pod..no instruments. The car wouldn't cast a good shadow when I got it. The tranny went with Scott's 52 Hornet (previous post) Steering gear went to Sweden, Engine is slated for our 28 Sanford fire truck, replacing the BUDA DW6 for now. Anybody got one? I think Hudson originally used Budas.
  • Hi Bruce,
I might have a decent bumper. Where are you located?

Just for the record, the 1954 Front bumper is unique to the 1954 model year.  If one takes the bumper brackets from an earlier year car to match the available bumper it can be used on the 1954 car.  The stepdown bumpers look the same but are not.

There was an article in a very early WTN ( 70's or 80's ) , that tried to verify the stepdown engine was a copy of a Buda engine. Seems like it had photos to show the likeness.

    Me too.
At a glance, there are many engines of that era that could be said to be alike because the basic design IS, but each will have it's own peculiar design elements that set it apart from the others. How far apart is subject to what the viewer's perception of what "significantly different" is.
I believe that the Bugatti Veyron is similar to the Model T engine.....except for.....................
