Have a look at the enclosed picture showing 4 labels which I found when I started the restoration of my 1951 Hudson Pacemaker Brougham in 1996.
I think I found one of them (no.3 from top) under or on the back seat.
Does anybody now what these labels can tell? Is 221617 a production number? Of what? The seat or the car? What is 51 481 A1 and M. S. & W - G. ?
And what is the black label with no. 481 on?
Thanks in advance for all tips.

221617 is the part number for the rear seat spring assembly for 50 and 51 Pacemaker 2 and 4 door sedan

226777 is for front seat spring assembly for 1951 Pacemaker 2 dr sedan

231588 is for front seat spring for 1952 Commodore and Hornet

These were made by McInnerney Spring and Wire Company of Grand Rapids Michigan.

Numbers on the left sideof tag are production dates.

481 may stand for 1948 Super, Not sure.

    Hope this helps,

Ric, I am impressed of your knowledge but have some new questions:
In the 1948-54 Hudson Master Parts Catalog I have been able to find part number 221617 listed as Spring Rear Seat Cushion for models 1948, 1949, 501, 502, 503, 504 but not for my model 4A. In the same catalog I can find 226778 (but not 226777) listed as Spring Front Seat Cushion.
Where did you find your explanation?
Until now I have not been able to find how many 1951 Pacemaker Broughams that have been produced. I can only find the production of 1950-1951 Pacemakers per month, see enclosed document. Do you have a document showing the number of 1951 Pacemaker Broughams produced?
The serial number of my car is 4A 20145. Does it tell which month it was produced?

Micki,  The 48 to 54 was put out by AMC. after the merger,  Many part numbers were left out.  I have found

that using a parts book for your specific year will offer more complete coverage.  I used the 48-52

which has more complete info. for those years.  (I did look in the 48-54 first)

I believe  Alex has included the monthly production by serial number in his online library.

Hopefully someone more computer savy can provide a link for you.

According to information in General Information Handbook for Hudson Built Hudsons by Alex Burr, serial number 20145 falls between 16358 - 29401 manufactured in Nov 1950.

    I hope this is helpful.

Lee, Thanks for your facts. But can you tell how many 1951 Pacemaker Broughams that have been produced and where to find this information? Michael (micki)

Hi micki - so far we haven't been able to break-down Hudson models as to how many of a particular body style were made - ie, we can't tell you how many Brougham's, how many sedans.  The closest we have gotten is a break-down by model.  For example in 1951 we have the following"
    Pacemaker (4A) - 34,495
    Super 6 (5A)   - 22,532
    Commodore 6 (6A) - 16,979
    Hornet (7A) - 43,666
    Commodore 8 (8A) - 14,243

This info is in the General Info Handbook, a copy of which is in the online library (see link below my signature) filed under "Other H-E-T Literature."

Alex, thanks for you quick answer. Can you estimate how many of these 34,495 Pacemakers (4A) built could have been the Brougham modell? 20 %? Look at the enclosed roster. I have indicated the Broughams in blue color. They are very few. Michael (micki) in Sweden.

Ric, I refer to your comments dated 28 March. I had a loook in the 1948-52 Hudson Master Parts Catalog instead of the 1948-54 Catalog and I have been able to find the 226777 Spring Front Seat Cushion used on model 4A. In the 1948-54 catalog it was not listed but the number 226778 was there. Thanks, Michael (micki)
