34 Tplane headlights

So I've got headlight buckets that are painted black on my all black 34 K coupe. Is that correct, or should they be chrome?
Also, as far as headlight operation I have 4 switch positions
OFF
Parking lights
Right headlight only
Both Headlights, which can be used in high and low beam modes.
Is
my right headlight supposed to be the only one on or is my left one
burned out? I hear mention of tri-beam, but not sure what that means.
Thanks

Looking forward to the proper answer on this one, 34! The "tri-beam" is a new one for me, as well. Post some pics if you get a chance.0

On a '34 model KS or a '34 Terra commercial, the headlight buckets are painted. All others are chrome. Any time one headlight is on both should be on so you either have a bad bulb or bad connection or bad wiring. Tri-Beam refers to the three positions of the switch as illustrated in the literature for the '34 Hudsons and Terraplanes.
