tie rod ends
Replacing the outer drivers side tie rod on my 52 Hornet. The replacement tie rod I was supplied with is a Moog product # ES140R. Problem is the taper on the tie rod is not right, the nut bottoms out before the taper is pulled into place.Obviously this is not the correct part.
Anyone know of an alternate replacement tie rod end ?

Dave, The old Swaps Book shows using ES416R and ES416L.
I used them and everything seemed to tighten up correctly.

The MOOG parts book Vol #1 covering 1939-1959 gives the following dimensions/specs for the ES 147
which they assign to 1948-1954 full size Hudsons, Not Jets.
Diameter and thread of shaft is 11/16ths by 18 tpi.
Widest dimension of the taper is .627 smallest dia. of taper is.560.
Stud length is 17/32nds and stud diameter and tpi is 1/2 20.
The Es 140 is listed for Willys 47-59.
specs for this are:
Dia and tpi of shaft is 11/16ths by 18.
Widest taper is .625 smallest is .543
Stud length is 21/32nds and stud thread is 1/2 by 20 tpi.
This is very close to the Hudson except for the stud length.
Hope this helps with your quest.
