1951 Hornet Project

Just though I would share a few photos of my 51 Hornet project so far. I bought it back in January and got to drive it once before the clutch went out. So now the next few months will be spent trying to fix that and maybe a few cosmetic touch ups and a radiator overflow tube.
So far I added an oil filter and tuned up the engine. I had to replace the shifter lever as it was broke off in the column and had to readjust the linkage (all working beautifully now),  replaced the thermostat and cleaned the cooling system, Added some temporary seat covers, and am currently getting the clock rebuilt.
Hopefully all goes well with the clutch replacement and I'll have it back on the road this summer

Good looking project you have. Glad to see you focus on making it drivable. From the rear view photo the tires look pretty wide. What size tires and wheel are on your car? I like the colorful seat covers.

    Keep up the good work.

I wish mine was in as nice of shape - I keep buying the crusty/rusty ones ;)

Jake, I know how you feel about getting the rusty ones.    I always hear about guys getting Hudson 'in a barn for 50 years'.   The ones I always get were just outside the barn for 50 years. It's to the point that if I don't snap a bolt head off I get nervous. This can't be my car. Stuff is coming off to easy.   Anyway good luck on your project.
  • Yea I definitely got lucky on this one, It was in a heated shop when I went and got it

My first Hudson Project was  a 51 Hornet sedan.  Let me warn you.. It's contagious.. I am now on my 5th  Hudson resurrection (at the age of 74). It's a terminal  situation. I will probably die with a Hudson on the floor to work on. What away to go!!!
