Introducing myself
I have been very remiss. I did not introduce myself before I started posting to the forum. My name is Mike Schlepp, My wife and I have a farm in North Idaho near Coeur d'Alene. I recently purchased my first Hudson, a 1935 Terraplane two door coach. The car is from Haysville, Kansas and I am the third owner.
My reason for wanting this particular Hudson is that my father had a 35 two door Terraplane sedan when he and my mom were dating after WW2 and it was their honeymoon car. I sat in that broken down car as a child on the farm in Eastern Montana, and while it never moved, I drove that thing for a thousand miles. Just me and the rattlesnakes.
I am the guy that has the post on this forum : 35 Terraplane straight six overheating issue
Thanks,
Mike

Jon,
Thank you, I am amazed at the helpful comments that I have gotten on the overheating issue on my 35 T. Don is sending me a water jacket to see if it will fit my car.
Doc, I am a member of the HET club (two years). The White Triangle News alone is worth the membership dues. I will definately join the Gem State Chapter. I will make every effort to get my car road worthy for the Wallace meet.
Thanks again,
Mike

Hi Mike, I am a bit to the south of you in Willard, Utah. Welcome and hope you get all the help you need to get on the road. There is a gentleman in Ogden that has a 35 Sedan--it was the car he drove to High School as a teen and now he is old and retired. We will most likely meet up in Colorado springs next summer at the National.0

Hello Mike
Welcome aboard. You will find there are a lot of people willing to help you with any Hudson problems. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your project. I have never seen an engines water jacket with that much crud as yours. Looking forward to seeing pictures of you "on the road again".
Hope we can meet up next year in Colorado.

Welcome to the family Mike. I been hanging around for over 40 years so you got to know this is a great car club and the people are just as great. It's a fine line between which is more important - the cars or the people. Like the motto says at the top of the HET web site - "Come for the cars; Stay for the people:

Farmer Mike: Welcome to the forum and to the world of Hudson. This forum is a valuable tool for those who are trying to connect with the information, experience and parts needed to make a Hudson viable.
Your forum name is quite apropos, to me as my forum name is OldFarmer1947. I too was originally a farmer but from New York. My Hudson appreciation comes from a long line of Hudson Stepdowns my Dad drove during my life at home. My first street car was a 1953 Jet. Our farm supported Holstein and Jersey cow herds. Due to many circumstances, aging family members and costs versus income our family stopped farming at about my 18th birthday. Time to find another avocation. Joined the USAF and spent 23 years with them. All during that time I was a Hudson owner and usually had a car to drive except when overseas.
Good to see some have stuck to the farming and now Hudsons too.
Welcome again.0 -
Some of you have asked to see some photos of the 35 Terraplane that we have. I finally got around to taking some of her while she is in the hospital (shop) getting her fever issues deal with.
