There's paint under all that crusty stuff...

Had some free time this afternoon so I carefully cleaned and waxed two areas on my '36. The cowl cleaned up nice but the big surprise was the hood... thin paint but its there! We're stuck in a temporary rental while we look for a new house so I can't really do much... its killing me after seeing stuff clean up like this!

Have you tried some compound as well? If there is still paint, that will help make it shiny! The wax will then seal everything in.

Thats exactly what I did, gentle use of compound and then waxed. I didn't go crazy as I could have, I just wanted to get a feel for what was under there. Hope the rest of the hood cleans up like the front corner did as the hood is the worst paint on the car.0
