Oil Pan Torque Spec.
I was questioning the Hudson listed torque spec. for the 5/16-18 cap screws that hold the oil pan on my 262. The torque setting I found on a Hudson Service Merchandiser calls for 15-20 ft.lb. of torque. I wonder if this is a typo. I can't imagine you'd ever get that to 15 without destroying your gasket.
In the past, I've just gone by feel, but was wondering what others have experienced/learned.
Thanks for the help. Doug

you are right, that is WAY too much. pan bolt torque is usually listed in "inch pound".0

Use a short handled wrench and go by feel, you won't upset anything. I never use a torque wrench.Geoff0
