Desperately seeking '51 Hudson Ring Gear
Well,
All youse guys' predictions were true regarding running a 6V starter on 12V. Mine's been in operation just 2 years or so, and probably less than 1,000 miles, but when I pulled it out for inspection (and conversion to 12V) recently, I found the starter pinion totally chewed up, and the ring gear doesn't look great either. Seems like I did have the ring gear repositioned 180 degrees when I installed (there were already some bad spots), but now it looks as if I'd be wise to seek out a new gear.
Any suggestions for sources of either a new, or serviceable ring gear for '51 Hudson Hornet 308 with manual overdrive tranny?

FYI
Check with your local Automotive Machine shop. If a replacement isnt available, you could inquire on the Forum for another flywheel....

41 through 54 all standard trans. are the same. Should be able to find good used or replacement type.

I should have a flywheel available if you need one. Where are you located?0

www.vapinc.com
You'll see that they list it as for '34 to '40 but if you follow the parts number supersessions, you will find that it fits all to '54. $135 for a new one.
