Exhaust manifold gasket.

Hi all,
I'm replacing the exhaust gasket on my 37 Terraplane and wondering if it's advisable to block off the ports to the intake that heat area around the carb? This new gas doesn't need more heat. Any words of wisdom much appreciated.
Gene.

Gene, I do this to every Hudson I have to take apart. It works great for keeping the gas from perculating into the carb when you stop during trips. I have never had a problem with vapor lock with any of my Hudson either. The only drawback is it takes a little longer for warm ups. You can also remove the extra material on the flapper to reduce resistance in the manifold.
