So we 'bought' a Hudson... now what?
Hi everyone,
My family just 'bought' the 1928 Hudson Super Six 5-passanger standard sedan listed on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/310958996614?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
And when I say bought, I mean the seller and I agreed to a price, and ended the auction. A friend of mine will be looking at it this week in person, as it's in NY, and we're in GA. If all goes well, the car will be headed south in a week or two. The car will be a weekend cruise-in car and rolling project for
three generations of us to tinker on. My one year old, who's middle
name is actually Hudson, we're hoping will grow up with an appreciation of old cars, the way my parents and I have. In the meantime, we have a lot of learning to do. We're actually not even sure yet how to cold start the car or use the spark and throttle. The owner's manual and YouTube haven't been as helpful as we hoped. And the last time my parents were around a car this old, was when they visited their grandparents! Anyway, any and all info you guys can share is much appreciated, and we look forward to being part of the group.

Welcome aboard!
Good to have you. I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information here.
You may also want to visit the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club website, and consider joining that Club - Members come for the cars, and stick around because of the great folks there!
We hope you enjoy your time here at the Hudson Essex Terraplane 'Open Forum' -

Hi Adam
Welcome to joys of vintage motoring. The HET club is a great bunch of knowledgeable, helpful & friendly folk who will go out of their way to assist you with your learning. Just remember that these cars respond well to "commonsense" approaches, they are not as sophisticated as their more recent successors.
As well as the HET Club you should also be aware of the Yahoo group for your era Hudsons HudsonSuperSix16-29@yahoogroups.com You will need to apply to join this moderated group but it is very specific.
A look at Alex Burr's on line library of almost everything ever printed by Hudson Motors should reveal a Workshop manual. Find the library through the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club website
Sorry to be so verbose but talking Hudson is a well known symptom of Hudsonitis!!

Adam, welcome to the world of Hudsons! Feel free to ask any question and someone will undoubtedly step forward with an answer. (It might even be correct, LOL!)
I agree with Rick, you should definitely consider joining the H-E-T Club, it's a great resource and clearinghouse for parts, service and historical information on Hudsons. You can get a "limited membership" to the H-E-T website immediately, which opens the door to a number of resources, but if you join the Club you get full membership. The website has downloadable shop and owners' manuals for many years of Hudson, as well as sales literature.

Hi Adam
That is a beautiful car. Welcome to the forum. Hope you consider joining the HET Club if you are not already a member.
Give Perry Spring a call at 909 four six 0-0736. He restored a 28 or 29 model. He can answer your starting question and probably any other you may have.

Good morning Adam - and welcome aboard. I've been a member of H-E-T for over 40 years which should tell you something about this great car club. As it says "Come for the cars - Stay for the people".
Beautiful looking car you have - according to my research the serial number, 824537, indicates a 2nd series Model O built sometime between 5 JUN 1928 and 1 JAN 1929 (we don't have actual monthly production figures that far back.
Hudsonly,

I was looking through our club roster and noticed that there are a few folks who have your era of Hudson. They would be the ideal folks to get you off on the right path. Send me an email at browniepetersen@readytek.net and I will give you names and such. One is in Athens and one in Gainsville.0
