Does anyone have a source for a 3rd brake light that attaches to the back window ledge for my jet?

John, in the back of the AACA mag there is an advertisement for a 6 volt LED 3rd brake light. . They come with suction cup an adhesive mount. The cost is about 55.00 It has both turn signal and brake light hookups. I have used them on all my 6 volt Hudson's as well as some of my other 6 volt oldies. They works real well,

If you can't find the listing, I'll take a look and send it to you

Thanks for the info. I do have one of the LED lights, but would prefer one that mounts on the rear window shelf. I bought one at a flea market, drilled the holes in the back panel, wired it up, only to find out it the unit was defective. I now have three holes in the panel that are quite ugly. I may have to just replace the vinyl and use my LED.

I'll bet I don't need to say this, but.....I've found a few 12 V units that work fine on 6 but that's not usually the case and LEDs are polarity sensitive so a positive ground installation may present some challenges. The one I've used is for 12V Neg earth and has left/right/stop/tail capabilities but in order to make it work on Pos earth, I have to connect all wires together (except ground, of course) and connect them to ground, then use the "ground" wire to Negative ("hot") in the 6V pos earth system.

Great tip. That beats the crap out of what I did but mine works well. I'll know what to do next time though.

Here is a 90's Chevrolet Suburban brake light that will fit between rear guards and can be installed with epoxy or magnet glued to bottom. They are polarity sensitive.image

I made a third brake light using the trunk emblem.  I cut out the spaces between the letters and put a red lens and some bulbs behind it that were attached to the brake lights.

Jason, That is one great idea. I just might have to check out my 54 and see how it would work for me... Thanks!

I thought this up about ten years ago.  What's really neat is that in the daytime, it looks just like a regular trunk emblem.
