fuel pump gasket height

I've installed a new double-action AC Delco fuel pump on my 262, reusing the original metal spacer with a gasket on either side. I'm not getting any positive pressure or suction from the pump. I'm wondering if the spacer plus the gaskets has created excessive clearance between the pump arm and the cam lobe The old pump had two thin, worn cardboard like gaskets plus the space. I used the one gasket that came with the new pump plus one gasket from the "stack pack" that came with it..
I'm too timid to experiment, but should I pull the single gasket from the stack pack off and go with just one gasket? Or is this not luikely the culprit?

The attached pictures are of a NEW spacer stack for a double action fuel pump used on 232/262/308 engines. The thickness of the stack can be read on the digital caliper gauge.
It is possible to install a double action fuel pump with the arm "above" the CAM lobe. I suspect that this problem you are experiencing.0 -
Wow,. hadn't thought of that!
will check it out!
Thanks!

Thanks, Doc. I've had the same trouble-free experiences 'til now. My previous vintage vehicle was a 1948 Chevy Thriftmaster pickup, and I have to say my '51 Commodore is at least 2X as complex.
