1154 bulb

Two questions about this parking/turn-signal two-filament bulb (1951 Pacemaker). I'm working on the front right now.

1) Which filament (the tall one, or the short one) is the brighter? One is 16.6 watts, the other 5.3. I had a new bulb and thought the shorter filament was definitely brighter, but I broke the bulb and an old one found in a parts box seems to have about the same brightness on each :( (Yeah, I know... buy another new one!)

2) Which filament handles the parking light, and which the turn signal? I wasn't able to tell, from the wiring diagram in the shop manual. Trying to reason it out... seems as if the turn signal should be brighter.

Yes, the brighter filament is for the turn signal.
  • Thanks, Park. I think I wired it up wrong yesterday, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out which filament is 3x as bright as the other! I'll remove the bulb, apply 6v and make sure I can tell the difference.
