The Big Country Regional meeting is history. We drove up the day before the meet and were greeted by dark grey foreboding skies as we entered Ponca City OK the site of this years regional. As we entered the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn, Charlie Harris' 50 P Convertible was prominently parked in the front of the lodge. The evening before had brought stormy weather to Nebraska, Iowa and the northern reaches of Kansas. These storms were cause for rethinking the trip for many planned attendees, but in the end over 80 HET members attended although I am unsure of the total car count. Our Saturday nite banquet was attended by 70+ members. Although it rained each day we were greeted by sunshine by noon. Our host chapter the Dust Bowl Chapter provided us with several tours one of which was to the private automobile museum of a friend. Ponca City is the home of Conoco Oil company and the company museum is a must see place for those who have not seen it. We toured the founders mansions and local land marks. Great time for us and we believe others who attended. MARLAND OIL is the core company from which CONOCO resulted, note the triangle in their logo, albeit red.0
