Convoys to the National Meet from the East Coast
I'm acting as self-appointed "coordinator" for our chapter (the CBC), to match up people who plan to drive their Hudsons to French Lick this July. Possibly small convoys could join up with larger convoys already heading west, as tiny streams and brooks merge to form mighty rivers.
Anyway, I would be happy to hear from others headed west, on the chance that we can get some people together. I'd need to know:
1. Where you're leaving from
2. On what date
3. At approximately what time.
4. What general route would you be taking?
5. Will you reach French Lick in one day and if not, where will you stay for the night?
Convoys aren't for everyone, especially if you're a fast driver and don't want to be slowed down. For the rest of us, a caravan is a pleasant way to travel, as part of a group of like-minded folks, with the added assurance that -- if one breaks down -- someone in the following car may have the tools, parts and expertise to get you going again!

Not that I'm going to join an eastern convoy (I was part of one going to my first National in 1988 and it was a blast) but I was looking at a road map this afternoon. French Lick Springs is really isolated regards highways. Ain't a interstate nearby. From Memphis I've figured out the best way to get there is up 51 to the I-24/West Kentucky Parkway to Central City, KY, then north on 431 to Owensboro, 231 north to Hays and 56 to French Lick Springs. Ain't no easy way about it. Oh well a nice country drive on roads suited to Hudsons - which would be nice if I had one.
Hudsonly,
Alex Burr
