I received the following e-mail from a friend:

I was at a cruise-in last night and in trailered a barn-stored 4-door '56 Hudson
Hornet V8!

It is covered in decades of dirt, leaves, mouse droppings,
etc., but looks to be a very solid car with some surface rust and only one
obvious, minor dent on one rocker panel.  It belonged to a collector who died a
year ago; 7 of his cars went to Auctions America, but this one didn't. It seems
to have about 70,000 miles, there is some question of whether the engine is
original but my GUESS is that it is; I don't know if it will turn because the
fan belt was broken (though the water pump did turn!).

All the chrome is
pitted with green corrosion, the interior is filthy and the front seat
upholstery is split, but the back is still covered in clear plastic.

The
nephew of the deceased is helping his aunt sell it.  He is Darby Clayton.
email: XXXj.darby.clayton@wv.gov
(remove the XXX before sending)  tel: 304/434-2219.  They are asking $4850, which
I think is on the high side but I'm not expert.  It is located in Moorefield, WV
(about 40 miles west of I-81 & I-66 intersection).

He promises to
keep it under cover.

If there is some way you could get it known to
Hudson enthusiasts, I suspect someone would be thrilled to find this car.  Aside
from the unknown mechanicals, my opinion is that just with a lot of cleaning it
could be a great AACA HPOF car or a relatively easy (if there is such a thing)
restoration.  I worry that if it doesn't fall into the right hands it may sit
outside and rot away, parted out, hot rodded, etc.  If I can facilitate a sale,
let me know.

Sincerely,
Jon Battle

Paul, thanks for checking this one out!  I got my "tip" from a non-Hudson guy, and he may have thought that this was a valuable rarity that needed to be grabbed up!
