Newbee Introduction
Hi Gang,
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dan and I am new to the forum. I have been a car enthusiast all my adult life. I started while in high school with my first car a 1959 chevrolet impala convertible. I still own that car to this day. Between then and now I have owned many old cars. About 10 years ago I became very interested in orphan auto makes. I was looking for something unique and different. Hudsons stood out to me. I looked at all the postwar models and narrowed down the body style I liked to a 2 door Club Coupe. I searched and found a '49 Commodore Coupe in the Los Angeles area. I have had the car for 3 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. She's a nice driver, a 10 footer. I have now decided to take her to the next level which she deserves. I am in the process of changing the clutch and detailing the engine compartment. Eventually I would like to have her repainted. I enjoy working on my car, it's my escape from reality. I'm glad that i found this forum and will be looking for technical advice. I recently moved from San Francisco to Chicago. Being new to the Chicagoland area, I'd like to join a local chapter of the HET. Which one would that be?
Cheers!
Dan

Thanks Alex. I will contact Cheri.
As for the paint, it's a 10 footer and looks great in pictures. If you look close, there are some runs and burn through when it was polished. Also, there is a small crease in the passenger side quarter panel. The color is Ruby Red but is a metallic. Did Hudson use metallics in "49 or should it be a solid color?

Hudson used "poly" paints, a type of metallic.
