Thanks mine wait till i have my head and shoulders under there then drop just enough so i hit my head coming out I will have to tighten them up. Or maybe lose a little weight so they dont get shook up so much. John

Many, many a head have been got by a stepdown hood over the last 60+ years!  Particularly the corners of the hood.  I know some of the oldtimers used to open the hood and immediately put something like a cut tennis ball on the corners.  Nothing like split heads to develop a little ingenuity!

If your hood is dropping, then either you don't have the hood braces in, or they don't have the springs on the braces, or all of your springs are completely worn out.  I don't believe I've seen a stepdown hood fall down before (not that it couldn't happen, of course).

The better idea for the hood prop is a REAL HOOD PROP.   My short hood Hudsons all us solid metal rod to prop the hood open.  Of course this does not keep me or anyone else from smacking the cranium on the corners of the hood.

Don't forget the springs on the lower hinges (the hinge that bolts to the firewall),,that spring breaks. or gets week quite often..and puts more pressure on the side hood struts.
