Upper control arm bumper

I have put a front end kit on my 1940 Hudson Victoria coupe. I ordered rubber bumpers for the upper and lower control arms. The lowers look fine but the uppers are 2inches thick. They look to thick to be able to put them on. There isn't much left of the original ones. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct size or will I need to cut them down. Also while I have everything apart I would like to put a vent in the gas tank, because it takes forever to fill it up. What would be the best way to vent the tank.? All ideas will be appreciated. Thanks
Stan
Ps. Everything on it is stock

The one on top are right mine was the same on the 40 pickup, as far as vent go to tanks inc.com
or you can buy a vent put a hole in it thread it and screw it in to the tank withe hose.
BUT if you are going to do that you should drop the tank empty it get a fuel tank sealer kit
     from Eastwood or PRO 15.com.
Clean it out and seal it then install it it would be safer gas fumes and sparks DON'T mix
       just a thought

Also you can take out the float and use on with a nut on the bottom of the vent sorry had to leave for a second
    and didn't finish.

Ken U-Tx, do you have multiple sets available of the control arm bumpers?  If you do, I think I may be interested in a set.  Thanks
  • Thanks everyone for the advice. Put all 4 bumpers on today and will vent the tank tomorrow after making a trip to the hardware store. Oh and the tank is out of the car and has been cleaned and sealed
