Saw this CL ad about a week ago - I don't recall, but think it was on the HET Club on Facebook (?). Appears to be a good deal for somebody.
You don't see PB, PS on Hudson automobiles that often, and the 'Twin-H' is also a big plus...
Take a look Dan, and if it 'talks to you', jump on it!

Pics are over 7 years old, that's a little odd. Plates on car are from NJ. But, yeah, if it still looks like it does in the pics, for $3900, it's a great deal!0

Too much biz travel and too little time right now. Besides I would see divorce court if I drag another car home.0
-
I 'hear you' Dan - My 'better half' has been more than patient with me (3 1/2 trucks, 2 1/2 of them in various stages of disassembly).
Not bringing another 'collectible vehicle' home, at least not until I get rid of one - and that isn't happening in the foreseeable future...

I have found that often times the date shown on the picture is actually recent, and the person never bothered to update the camera date/time function. Definitely worth asking the question, but could just be camera user error. I can only handle one car at a time, or I would certainly be interested in this one.0

Just in case the Craigslist ad expires (but the car's still for sale), I'll put the contact info here.

It looks like the weatherstripping on the drivers door has been painted body color. Is that normal or does it say repaint? The paint looks old but it is a pleasant color with nice patina.0

Doc,According to Sara's website, it looks like 2153 Hornet/Hornet Specials were built that month, 205 Jets.John Forkner0
-
Sara's website is somewhat confusing. It does not show my car (6311023) but from the numbers listed on the chart I can guess that it was built in August? I also expect that it was built in California but I am only guessing.0
-
I thought only AMC Hudsons were built in California for a year or two.

Brownie - indeed your '54 was built in August - but not in California. From the 6 at the beginning of the serial number you probably have a 6D Hornet Special.
1955 was the only year AMC built cars in California - the factory was in El Segundo.

The pictures that are posted of this car were taken very recently. The cameras clock was never updated to the correct date. My daughter called before going over there for more recent pictures and found this out. I hope someone jumps on this soon.

So what kind of shape is the car in? Did you or your daughter have a chance to look it over? I'm short of garage space and a bit short of fundage just now, but if I could sell my Hornet that would solve both problems. It looks interesting. Not too terribly far from me, so I might go have a look but it can't be for a couple of weeks.

She didn't go to see it. She lives in MD and was going to her camp in WVA and running behind schedule. Bruce

Did anyone check this one out??? Hate to see it missed out for one of the HETers if it is as good as it looks?0
-
I plan to go look at it but I can't until next weekend at the earliest. I can't really adopt anything unless I sell my Hornet but anything's possible.0
-
I have seen this car and it photographs a lot better than it is. Significant rust issues, needs everything but is equipped right.
0 -
That was my worry. Still perhaps it can be gotten for a fair price.0
-
The dealer that has it claims he has more than 3900 in it and that is bottom dollar, but who knows. He's dropped the price almost Half from where he started.0
-
Is the rust frame or body or both?0
-
Both, its a pretty crusty car that was warmed over on the cheap a couple decades ago and has sat most of that time. As I remember it was originally from NJ or NY. I wouldn't give more than the high demand parts are worth

Good to know that information, Mr. W! An on-site review is invaluable for potential buyers.

I'm glad you posted that. Saved me a trip I don't have time for. The car looks half decent in the pix. But, I should know better. I once drove a looooong way to look at a car that was on EBay and looked really good for the price. Turned out the pix they posted were about 20 years old. We didn't even get out of the car, just rolled by. It really was a nasty one.0
