Threading New Tie Rods...
Please help! I've removed the tie rods and the bars they thread into on my '54 Hudson Jet.
For the life of me, I cannot get the new ones to thread right! I don't want to strip the threads on the bar or the tie rod, but I can't get them to start to screw in. I was meticulous in unscrewing the old tie rods. I also know which ones to where (inner and outer). But I can't screw them in!!
Should I tighten the clamp so the bar is more "circular" or should I try and spread the bar with the cut out??
I've spent an hour trying to get the new ones to screw in.
This car is killing me... (just kidding, but it IS the most difficult car I've ever worked on. And I've worked on a lot!)
Thanks for the tips!!
Mike

Are they "left" and "right" threads?0

You do know that 2 of the 4 are left handed thread? Check the direction of the thread on the rod and bar and make sure they are correct to the bar0
