Oil question for my 232
Comments

A lot depends on how many miles on the engine, and if it has an oil filter or not.0

No filter and 50k for mileage.0

10w30 or 10w40. 7 quarts w/o filter.

No disrespect intended towards the above post...but there is info out there in regard to the effects of changing to detergent oil that are in contradiction to the previous post. There are no scrubbing agents in detergent oil. They just keep particles in suspension to be captured by the oil filter. I do like the idea of dropping the pan on an engine that is unfamiliar to you. I have been using Castrol GTX 10w-40 in my Pacemaker for 26 years now, -- no problems, although above comment of sludge, cleaning the oil pan etc are good ideas in general. Mine only uses a quart of oil in about 2K miles and is clean inside..0
