Hi my name is Greg W.
I just bought a 1956 Hudson Super Wasp  September 29. I am older than the car and owning a Hudson is a new experience for me, although I had my eyes out for a Hudson, Packard, or Studebaker, for some time. The Wasp is pretty complete, runs well, and had a fair amateur restoration over 20 years ago. I have experience in all aspects of restoring cars (49 Austin panel van, 66 Charger 383, and a 1908 Buick 10), but this time bought a car already road worthy to enjoy.

I am looking for sources for back up emergency parts that I did not see readily on line, like a generator, waterpump, regulator, starter relay. Also the car is missing both vent window cranks and posts (color cream/ivory).

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but while the water pump would be specific to the Hudson (same one as the Jet?), the other parts mentioned would probably have interchanged with a wide variety of other cars, so shouldn't be hard to find. It's always good to scrounge a starter and generator and have them rebuilt. You can put them on a shelf and take them along if you go on a long trip. It's getting hard to find Hudson parts at NAPA.

Thanks to all. Good comments. I found 55/56 Nash/rambler regulators and relays Thought they might be the same even though the engine is different. And my reason for having these parts is to have emergency road spares. I have already taken a 3 hour road trip and the car performed well. I made a little choke and throttle adjustment and leaned the mix a little, because it was idling rough and stalling out. I have shop manuals for the engine, auto trans, electrical, brakes, and diff. but only a one pager on the WA-1 Carter 1 bbl. carb. I bought a fair share of my emergency replacement parts at RockAuto.com (some kits and some replacements). I will try to upload photos but for some reason this computer wants to load them as pdfs.

  • Finally got the computer to cooperate and upload photos. Here's my ride.

    Nice looking car!

I've said before that I'd never really looked at these cars but they have grown on me over the years and I'm a fan of their looks now :)
