headlamp relays and wire protection [both hi/lo n brake]
My 54 wires are so grubby not only are they frayed but the whole shebang is exposed to the elements and have failed miserably..I plan a new hi/lo switch but to cover it with a 1/2 " conduit box and spiral flex plastic conduit to the fender well. Feed the relay full amperage source to #30 then have the lo or hi select the relay /hi lo / 85 to Gr 86 this leaves 87or 87a to the lamp/s/ while retaining a wire to the dash to indicate hi. I also plan to take the hot 12+ to the brake switch and back out through the fill hole with a new plug. Do all this dirt cheap

Not to confuse but common auto relays [12 v] are 85/86 pull the relay in 30 is the full 30/40 amp input . Out is normally 87. Head instructor promised to fail me if he called at midnight n I could not id the relay poles? Ha
tough on an old man ya think

FYI
Just follow the schmatic on the Relay or Pkg and you cant go wrong. Using a Relay will make the lights brighter..I recommend installing a good Battery shut off Switch if retaining the old Wiring. (Not the green twist knob type but Moroso, Taylor, any fast Off/On) There are creative methods to shut off without opening the hood..
