1955 Hornet Engine/Clutch/Transmission Removal

Winter is approaching here in Minnesota and I am getting ready to yank out the power train on my 55. I am going to start with my rebuild there (plans of driving it next summer to get body shop quotes) and before I start I want the procedure to be as surgical as possible.
I have questions, more than I can list here:
This rear axle-torque tube: is there anything I should worry about?
Can the engine and Trans be pulled as one piece?
I am rebuilding the engine... I have read a lot on the engine rebuilds on here. Does anyone know of a good after market oil filter system that works on these engines? I am trying to start up a forum discussion to pick the brains of these Hudsonites.
Thank you for all your help,
Drew

I pulled the engine and hydro as one last year on a 55 hornet. the driveshaft slide out of the splines, after the 6 bolts or what ever it was, were taken out on the rear of the tranny. the engine had to come forward little at a time. good luck!0

Awesome! I have the 6 cylinder with the 3 speed borg warner (itty bitty little transmission). I want to pull them as one piece and then rebuild/recondition everything then put it back together.Drew0
