Are these Hudson Pullers ? need ID help

I'm cleaning out my excess tools and came across these pullers. They are either Hudson or Nash I believe.

The J 1270-N-1 is a steering wheel puller , 4" deep , the U shape collar is 1 3/4" across , the height of the opening is 3 1/4"

It has a bushing to go in the opening for the horn wire ,Seems like I remember using this on a Hudson wheel

The J 678-A-1 looks like a hub/damper puller . 8 1/8" across opening , 2 1/2" deep , looks small for Hudson ?

I'd like to sell these, I don't use them , but would like to know what they fit.

Any ideas? Google search didn't help with numbers , but I'm not real good at it/

Thanks

  • The first item can be used to pull steering wheels from cars that have steering wheels like the 48-9 Hudsons ( actually used on some 50 models as well.)    The second item is a harmonic balancer removal tool.

Here are some photos in action of the steering wheel puller.

Thanks Lance , I knew that probably was a Harmonic / damper puller , just not sure if it fits Hudson.

I don't have one to measure. I probably used it 35 years ago.

Go to the H-E-T website and look under "Manuals" ("Old Site").

Click on the "Manuals" for different eras.

You'll find several Kent-Moore catalogs showing all the tools they made for Hudson, listed by part number.

Thanks Jon , but I'm not registered there. This is my Hudson forum of choice.

    Hello "lostmind,"

I checked my Kent-Moore SERVICE TOOL GUIDE 1952 Edition for HUDSON catalog.  This is what I was able to find out about your tool numbers as best I could:

Your first tool, 1270-N-1 strongly resembles the illustration in the catalog for the NASH J-1270-NA (all series thru 1948).  So, my guess is that it indeed is a Nash steering wheel puller.

Your second tool, J-678-A-1 strongly resembles the illustration of J-676-C which is a Hudson vibration damper puller for HUD - 1936 - 52 (8 cylinder?) all models.

Well, there you have it.  Maybe someone with a bit more Kent-Moore knowledge can provide more information here.

    Hudsonly,

    Dan

Thanks Dan , I appreciate the efforts. I suspected Nash because I cleaned out a Nash dealer years ago.

I'm pretty sure I used that puller on a 49 Hudson wheel. I made a split collar from a black pipe reducer

from a hardware store. I can't find it now.

If some one needs these pullers , the steering wheel puller is $35 ( sale pending)

and the Damper puller is $25 ( available 11/12 )

    Plus $12.85 shipping

    Send a PM

    Thanks

    Roy
