essex wiper for windshield

You could first consult the parts manual for this car to find out which model the wiper motor is (and it should also list the other components you need: brackets, wiper arms, bolts, etc.). In the 1937 manual for example, it refers to the motor as a Trico SK-25 and I'd hope they'd give that info in the '29 manual as well.
You could then check Ebay for a new or used one. I lucked out 4-5 years ago and found a brand new one in the box for my '37, for only $45. It works like a champ.
If you find a used one you can try wiperman.com to see if they offer rebuild kits, and to find out what they'd charge for rebuilding (I think it's running about $100 nowadays). The advantage of having them rebuild it is that they'll do it a lot quicker than you, and they probably have certain parts in stock would NOT be included in any rebuild kit, should something break during their overhaul of yours. Also, they know these things backwards and forwards. The last time I sent mine to them for rebuilding they flat out stated that the metal had warped and it would no longer hold a seal. (They had nothing to sell me, so there was no benefit to their telling me this, other than professional courtesy.)
You could of course drop an e-mail to some of the usual Hudson vendors in the WTN, asking if they have one, but you should probably get some measurements and other identifying marks to give them, otherwise they may not know if what they have is the right wiper motor.

Unfortunately, the 29 Essex Windshield wiper motor is unique to the car. They are made of pot metal and tend to expand over time. This makes them very hard to re-build. I would suggest they you contact Ficken Wiper Service (www.wiperman.com).
Last time I checked, he offered a replacement NOS wiper motor that would fit the car but it is not an original piece. It is a replacement. He is also the US largest restorer of wipers having bought out the surplus stock of Trico... the maker of the correct wiper motor. If you have a very nice core, you might be able to be coax him into rebuilding it. He is very hesitant to get into one of these as they are usually warped and won't work well after the repair.
There are no kits available for the wiper motor.
Having said that, it is not impossible to get an original one to work I have 2 of them on my 29's and they both work flawlessly.. They are fairly simple to repair if they are just a leather covered wiper paddle and a couple valves. If the paddle Is still good, soften it with neats-foot oil, clean the 2 valves, cut a new gasket and give it a try. Who knows, you might just get it to work on your own.
If you don;t have one. good luck. Maybe Gary Lynch in Canada has a spare. But they are just about impossible to find. I have had 29 Essex's for more than 40 years and have only seen 2 of them for sale. Ficken is the
