THIS CAR HAS BEEN OFFERED ON EBAY FOR A LONG TIME NOW AND IF MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT I DON'T THINK IT HAS EVEN HAD AN OFFER.

I PERSONALLY DOUBT THAT THEY WILL FIND A BUYER AT THAT PRICE ALTHOUGH THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY THAT SOMEONE UNFAMILIAR WITH HUDSONS MIGHT DECIDE THAT HE HAS MORE MONEY THAN HE KNOWS WHAT TO DO WITH.

I HATE TO SEE THIS KIND OF ADVERTISING BECAUSE IT TENDS TO INFLATE THE TRUE VALUE OF THESE CARS.

IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO DO A SURVEY TO DETERMINE WHAT PRICE THE MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM WOULD PUT ON THAT PARTICULAR CAR.

The car is at RK's showroom outside of Charlotte, so I've been there and seen it.  Looks very well done, but didn't see under the hood or under the car.  If one forgets that it's a Hudson and thinks of it as a nicely done street rod, I don't think the price is all that out of line.

I may put my '47 up there for a while; no cost to me if it doesn't sell in 2 months.  But because of their margin requirements it would have to be listed in the low thirties.  Ouch!  Interesting though, that several folks at Cruise-ins have remarked that the window-sign price of $24k is surprisingly low, so maybe it would sell at RK!

I believe this car belongs (or belonged) to 'Hudson Dave'.  Has been for sale for a long time - This looks like a dealer, so either he sold it or it is on consignment...

Rick, you're correct. Dave was on this forum regularly a few years back. Is he doing OK? He also had a truck that was similarly styled. I saw his ratrod 30s Buick for sale recently too. I like this sedan, someone will make a reasonable offer and take it home. Restoration costs are through the roof these days, and there are less DIY'rs everyday.
  • Doesn't seem worth it when a 1947 Hudson is selling for AUS$13,950

Now that is one unusual car, which should be worth much more than any  modified car.   For the un-initiated, these cars were marketed in Oz as 1947-'48 models, and used up all the old 1939 bodies which were left over after the industry shut down for WW2.  They are all-steel bodies built by Ruskin. Modified with skirts out over the running boards.  Right hand drive of course. The Australians did many innovative and different things with Hudsons.    I don't know if anyone has done a comprehensive write-up on these, but if not it should be done.    We only got American bodies here  in N.Z.

Wow ; interesting fact Geoff and one I'd not heard before so thanks for that

A lovely looking car as well

I agree there is at least an article if not a set about the innovative way of using old "old stock" so perhaps someone will feel the need to put pen to paper

And it appears to have it's original 8 cylinder engine.  What a gem.
