Names on an old manual

I always wonder who the folks were that owned the cars I restore before me.   My imagination runs wild while I work on the car, thinking about it being new somewhere, sometime in the past, some family driving it home for the first time.  What family events took place in the car, where they drove it too, etc.   It keeps my mind occupied while I do the menial tasks that put me at one with the car like days of taking a putty knife to the grease and caked dirt in all the hidden places.   A lot of old car restoration is kinda like working in the sink doing dishes the old-fashioned way, scraping, scrubbing vacuuming--cleaning.

Anyway, while consulting with my trusty old Hudson body book I noticed a couple of names written on the 2nd page written in cursive in pencil and  I got to thinking about the imaginary owners of the book before me.   With all due respect to whoever they are, does anyone recognize these guys?  I have no idea where the book came from--probably an ebay purchase...k

I'm (was) a great collector of used books - used to haunt used book stores.  I always enjoyed finding things were written in the fly leaves on books that were perhaps birthday or Christmas gifts.  One that has stuck with me over the years was one in a book on sailing ships of long ago.
"To Bobby, always remember the many hours we spent sailing the world in your toy boat in the pond out behind the barn - Uncle Ted."
I've found a lot of Hudson manuals with dealerships written or stamped on them.  And some with "This manual belongs to ................" also.

He was a friend of my dads,a mechanic at the Chevy garage who I only knew as "Starch". At least until I bought my first car at 15 and he showed up at the truck stop with a factory chassis manual for my 57 Chevy. There it was on the first page Wilmer Stanley... I returned that manual some years later when repops became available but now wish I'd asked for it after he'd passed...

My 49 Commodore 8 came from an estate in Plymouth MI and had this postcard in the owners manual. I can only imagine they showed up to the alumni dance in a shiny brand new Hudson. The Book Cadillac Hotel although derelict for quite a while in Detroit has been totally revamped By the Westin Co.
