Inner fenders on 50 Commodore

I'm in the process of cleaning out the engine bay, getting it ready for paint, then a wiring harness.   The old firewall is the original burgandy, while the inner fenders are black.  It looks like they have been repainted at some time--was the black "correct" or should they be the same color as the firewall/exterior color?   I'm going to need to repaint everything anyway, might as well do it "factory" as long as I have the chance...k

My 50 Pacemaker has original black inner fenders. They actually have a decent gloss to them, but I would probably use a semi gloss if I were repainting them.
  • Agree. All of my step down stuff is black and is a gloss like finish.
    Thanks!

Had mine stripped and powder coated gloss black along with grill baffles, core support, battery tray and hold down, upper and lower A arms and a bunch more. Cheaper than paint.
