Can someone tell me what the stock thickness of a cast iron head is and what the min. thickness could be after a cleanup grind?
I can't find the head number listed in any book which is #301766,anyone know what it is?
Where were these heads prone to give trouble?
Thanks

The standard thickness of all Step-down and Jet cast iron heads is 2", and they can be safely planed  .060"
The 262 and 232 heads were quite robust and unlikely to give problems under normal circumstances.
