Is this a 35 H8 radiator?

This is the radiator that came with my 35 H8 project but I'm concerned it may not be the right one. Its about the right size, the mounting holes line up with the chassis holes and the outlets point in the right direction.

What worries me is that I have all the 35 front sheet metal but none of it matches up to the fixing holes in the radiator sheet metal. The top 2 holes in the grille surround match the top 2 holes in the radiator sheet metal but that's it.

Any thoughts?

It turns out that my radiator is most probably a 36 and is not readily adaptable to a 35.

This it the top back of a genuine 35 radiator. Thanks to Trevor J for the info.

I suspect I may also need to chase up a 34/5 waterpump to go with the proper radiator.

34-35 water pump bolts to the front of the head.   Looks like you may have a newer engine, or later head fitted.

Later head will bolt to the earlier block, but not all water passages match.

    Bob,

The '35 radiator has a threaded radiator cap.  The top tank of the radiator extends backwards so you can reach the radiator cap easily when the left side of the hood is open.  Also, the top tank of the radiator contains a sender unit for the water level gauge on the dashboard, which measures the water level in the top tank of the radiator (not the temperature of the water).  A wire which is attached to this runs with other wires on the left side, to reach the gauge.

The casting number on the left side of the crankcase (near the dipstick) of my 1935 8 is 44601.  In the club library is a table showing casting numbers for various years.  You may be able to determine the year of your engine from this table.

Thanks guys, it looks like I need to find myself a 34/5 radiator. Are the Hudson and Terraplane versions of the 34/5 radiator essentially the same?

I guess that routing the hoses between my later head/water pump and a 34/5 radiator is doable but would be unconventional. A better solution would be to find a good 34/5 H8 cylinder head and water pump for the engine, # 59491.

    Any out there?

The radiators are the same height and width, but the H8 radiator is an inch thicker.

The 36 radiator I have has a 2" core, presumably it is the Terraplane version?

Heads are around, one just sold on ebay about a month ago for $100. I may have a waterpump still, I picked one up when looking for 33s.
