Center steering arm

Hello everyone. I'm back again with another problem that hopefully I can get help with. My steering has a little play in it and I narrowed it down to the center steering arm. It has some vertical play in it and reading in the manual it says to replace some bearing and seals. Does anyone know the parts I need and where I can get them from and any tips I need to know on how to fix this? Everything else seems tight and I would like to fix this as it is not fun when you are going down the freeway and the steering starts to shake real bad. It starts at 60mph but it is not always there. Thanks for any help.

Thank you. I just read the whole topic and tomorrow I'm going to disassemble my center steering arm and see if my shaft is ok and if it is, I'm going to hopefully get one from Gert

Well today I disassembled the center steering arm and I guess the good news is the shaft seems to be in good shape so hopefully Gert still sells his kit if not I guess I will just have to buy the whole thing. I'm going to send a email off to Gert and see if he responds.

If Gert doesn't have any kits. You can use bushing from McMaster Carr #7964k31. I had local machine do the fitting for my Pacemaker. My center pin showed no wear and he had no trouble in rebuilding for me.

      I
used a Bronzed Sleeve Bearing when I rebuilt my front end several years
ago (see earlier in this thread) that I bought from McMaster Carr. My
steering is tighter now than it was with brand new roller bearings.
      I
did have to take a little off the length however. Off hand I can't
remember exactly how much, but the stock bushing length of 2" was a
little long. If you use this one, make sure to line up the hole in the
center with the grease fitting when pressing it in.

Well yesterday I hammered out and pushed in my new bushing that I bought from Gert.  All went well and I reinstalled the assembly and the steering feels alot tighter.  The real test will be in the spring when I can take it out on the road again.
