Turn Signal Mechanical Question

Both pins are broken off my 51 steering wheel.. The ones that cancel the turn signal when the wheel is turned. How long are the pins in the center of the steering wheel? I have drilled and put roll pins in, but don't know how much to grind off.

Dave, leave .875" protruding out from the flat area of the steering wheel to the tip of the cancelling pins. (7/8" for you non decimal types)
