Ride height etc
G'day All
I have some questions re a mid 30's 8 cyl
1) does the top of the chassis sit level - parallel with roadway
2 with engine and gearbox installed, what is distance from top of front spring to underside of chassis - ignoring bump stops
3 Same with rear axle - distance from axle tube to underside of chassis measured vertical above tube
4 what angle does front hairpin shackle sit at re front springs, forward I presume - how many degrees at rest
5 in full trim, what is clearance UNDER chassis and the following points - just behind rear of front springs and at front of rear springs
I had no springs and am not too sure about the settings which the "new" ones have been made to
Also trying to set up tail shaft and get flanges parallel which may result in need to tilt rear axle or alter engine mounts
I have moved engine back 100mm and am installing a laycock overdrive so it all becomes a bit more demanding re tailshaft geometry which flows from ride heights and angles.
Thanks in anticipation

Phil, as much as I can tell from my 35 H8 project, the top of the chassis rail sits pretty well parallel to the road.Short tailshafts at steep angles are fairly common in the 4WD world, you may be able to pick up ideas from there on how best to set up your tailshaft.0

Phji, probably a bit late now, but the free arch for H8 export models (springs out) is 2-1/4" front and 6-5/8" rear.Geoff0

Thanks Bob and Geoff
