Clutch Springs

Help, I am a little confused.

When I acquired my Hudson a couple of years back there were 3 springs on the clutch.  Looking through the parts manual it appears there should be two, the large spring on the outside of the frame rail and a second spring on the top of the clutch fork paddle.  Mine had a spring on the bottom of the paddle which keeps the throwout bearing riding on the pressure plate fingers, this doesn't seem right.  Also there is a spring from the rear of the master cylinder up to clutch pedal linkage.  These two act against each other.  I have looked for where a spring would connect to the top of the paddle through the hole but can't find a logical place it would connect.  My clutch works very well and is very smooth when driving but when the car is off if depressed it doesn't return but will stay on the floor.

Can anyone help me out on where and how the springs connect to the clutch.  Also, for any of the springs other than the main spring outside the frame any specifications on stiffness etc would be helpful.  I have a 3 speed in a 50 Commodore.
