Anyone recall the part number or year the AMC engine mounts that fit the stepdown?

Thanks

  • Russ, try  NAPA  602- 1161  or    Sealed Power  270 2330.   I think the NAPA one was the one used by AMC.

I think I used 76 Hornet with 258, the NAPA number lance gave above looks right. Make sure you match them up before you leave the store. They have compatible parts that can be quite different. The thickness can vary by up to 1/4", and stud sizes and lengths vary. The best of 5 I picked left me with one M10 stud instead of 3/8 on most. Other suppliers may be more consistent.

NAPA 2280 fits stepdowns and has a metal safety feature that keeps it together if the rubber separates.

A great feature for the left front mount! I cut that portion off for used on the right side.

I had a Hornet years ago that broke the left front while drag racing a 53 Olds. The clutch linkage came apart and the throttle went past center and locked wide open.  Pucker time!!  ( I beat the Olds).

Been there done that with the old 49.  Did a U-turn and the motor rolled up against the fender yanking the throttle wide open.  Thankfully it flopped back when I got straightened out.

I recently got a pair of 2280s from Advance Auto. I think the brand name was Anchor, but it obviously is a generic number.
