Dual action fuel pump routing

The dual action fuel pump on my '50 262 has the port nearest the block open...nothing attached. I believe this should be routed to a tapped port on the intake?  The outlet side (farthermost away from the block) is attached to the wipers. After removing the large vacuum line (3/4" NPT ) for the Drivemaster, I'll have an area I can fit a vacuum line to- if that's where it goes.   Thanks  Terry

I would think there is a small tapped hole somewhere in the intake manifold already.  Perhaps it got damaged and is just plugged up.

It is worth checking to see if the diaphragm of the air pump is OK.  You could take the hose off.  Then suck on the tube that the hose was attached to (going to the air pump) while you hold your finger over the open port of the pump.  If you can keep sucking air through, the diaphragm is cracked.  If you can only suck a little, and it then holds a vacuum, the diaphragm is OK.

  • Thanks Per   I'll check the condition today. There is a small 1/4" plug on the firewall side of the intake but I'll reduce the large Drivemaster vacuum port to the size I need and use that ...it will be closer to the pump.  Thanks again    Terry
