spark plugs for 262

A couple things here. I went through the mechanical procedure book and discovered my '50 262 should have Champion J-7 plugs for the cast iron head, but it has Champion H-10's meant for the aluminum head. Is the Autolite 295 plug a good substitute? Even more troubling is the distributor (IGS 4213A) has no vacuum advance on it...none at all. I discovered this once I got most of the Supermatic Drive components removed. Did the Supermatic Drive require there be no vacuum advance or have I inherited someone else's mistake and if it does belong on the distributor, does anyone have one(or a good dizzy with one on it). Terry, the parts book does not call out a different distributor for Supermatic-equipped cars.
It does show IGS 4213 A-1 for the 262-engined cars (Series 501, 502). So it seems you've got the proper distributor, but someone has removed the vacuum advance mechanism.
