Ok,lets FLOOD THIS forom with pictures of drag racers, salt flat cars etc.
Come on RANDY M.and SON, Bill A. Hudson Boys and all the rest of you . Get them pictures (and youall have many) and post them yourself or send to OLRACER and he will be of MUCH Help. Them Flathead Hudsons did very well years back and they STILL do well TODAY.
I will send a few as i did not have one of them picture takers back then so some of the locals took what we have.
Hudsonly to ALL Rudy and locals.
The above statement was the first post in 2008 to encourage sharing Hudson racing photos. RACING PICTURES was the second most popular post which showed Hudson race cars I had never seen . Although the posts were saved, unfortunately ALL the exciting racing photos are missing. So I hope all those who have any racing Hudson photos will share them again for RACING PICTURES II. Hopefully current racers will contribute their photos too.

FYI
I compiled most of those Racing Picture's back in 2009 that were sent & Posted from all over the Country along with a lot of actual old Win & Finishing Records from many old Tracks into a 3 Ring Binder then presented it to the North Carolina Racing Hall Of Fame (NCARHOF) Museum in Mooresville N.C along with a few Hornet Die Cast Stock Car Models ,,, www.ncarhof.com.....This Museum does not have a Hudson but they have a lot of Tim Flock's memrobilia .
(Those many pictures would be a lot to Re Post)
...Incidently,...
The New NASCAR Museum in Charlotte had (or still has) a Hornet Stock Car on display, but very little is mentioned about the Hornet's Racing Legacy....

Of course, I wasn't a party to anything in this article, but thought you might find it interesting. Some fact, some brag, lots of fun I'm sure.

You old race guys are my heros! My only regret is I don't live closer so's I could take you out for coffee and listen to the stories!...keith0

Ol racer
Maybe one or 2 pictures a day? I could not find the photos at www.ncarhof.com.
Frank,
Looks like a great article. I only see half the picture. Sliding it back and forth makes for some difficult reading. I don't understand how it came through like that. Maybe something Aaron is still working on to fix.
Thanks guys for sharing.

FYI
That's a real nice article that I never seen, and from personal experience, I think most of the Text is True. Believe me, back then V8's were the rage and whern guys got beat by a 6 they got really upset.....
Regarding the Race Pictures, If not accessible from the Old Forum Thread, I could start Posting a few occassionally since I made Binder for myself thats just collecting dust.....

Thank you That worked. When I went back to the forum I had to reduce the size. Seems to be a intermittent problem. I liked the story along with the pictures.
Thanks again for the tip.

Tom Scardina's 60's era gasser with 308.
Pires-Scardina Haulin’ Hudson, by Anna Marco. Reprinted by permission of the author.
Tom Scardina’s heavyweight Hudson is the class winner of the1968 ANRA
Winter nationals held at Lions Drag Strip. This 1940 Hudson modified for
drag racing represents in-line power. It was built in 1964 for F/Gas
in NHRA and with some changes also ran H Modified Production.
Additionally, it ran I/Gas, J/Gas and K/Gas and also Formula 9 Super
Stock at ANRA races. The car has run the racetracks at Fremont, Half
Moon Bay, Vacaville, Redding, Sacramento, Sears Point, Eagle Field,
Bakersfield, Palmdale, Irwindale, Orange County, Lions, San Fernando and
Salinas. It was the Class Winner of the 1968 ANRA Winter Nationals held
at Lions Dragstrip. To say this car has history is an understatement.
The Pires-Scardina Racing Team caught the racing bug at an early age
(age 15). Tom and his friends were hanging around a guy with a dragster
and went with him to the drags at Salinas, Fremont and Half Moon Bay.
Prior to purchasing the Hudson in 1964 the boys ran a few other cars
(1957 Ford and a Model A set up as gassers) stating, “we got of breaking
stuff and the expense so we built a Hudson when bracket racing was
becoming popular and the car fit in many classes with a minor carb
change so that’s why we chose it. We were looking for a reliable
bracket car with headers.”
The Hudson, built by John Pires,
Elliot Booker and Tom Scardina, was intended as “a good drag car” and
cemented lifelong friendships. The team jokes, “The hardest part was
finding parts but the most memorable event was racing a new 1965
Corvette and smoking it!” This historic gasser is a sixties era
survivor and has all the window decals to prove it. The team claims the
car is “still a work in progress” and it is still raced at nostalgia
events today. Usually, Tom Scardina is behind the wheel “of his office”
and notes affixed to the dashboard remind him to “turn on the gas” and
“watch RPM or get the basket.” Nonetheless, the car has won several
awards, held records and original racing jackets are occasionally found
on the front seat.
This hauling Hudson is basically stock with a
few secret modifications for drag racing. It retains a 1955 Hudson 308
flathead six and uses a 375 Holley carb and Hooker Headers. The mill
is mated to a Hydramatic transmission and Ford 8-inch rear-end. That’s
all the info you’re going to get out of this team as far tech goes.
Meanwhile, they have raced Elmer Snyder and Terry Earl (at the first
Antique Nationals) and everybody in between. When they raced Ed
Iskenderian at OCIR and won in 1974, Ed wasn’t happy about that. He was
sulking so Tom approached him and said, “Well Ed, we run an Isky cam”
and that made him laugh. Plans for 2014 are to run Eagle Field Drags
and The Antique Nationals (at Irwindale Raceway the first week in June)
joking, “We have run there for 40 years and never missed one.” ZOOM.
