Now I figured how to post here are pictures of the hudalac as its California plates say. It is set up for a duel exhaust, Cadillac fin tail lights, Cadillac grill from the 80s, and a brushed aluminum dash. I plan to get rid of the fin tail lights, brushed dash, and grill and return original

nice truck, that is one of the best body styles for a pickup. I actually had to go back and look for the taillights, I didn't notice them the first time. i'll best you have fun switching back what you want and keeping what you want. one good think is looks like you don't have any rust to deal with.0
-
FYI
Welcome,
It looks like someone put a lot of time, money, and labor into making those modifications then lost interest for some reason.
Good luck changing them back to original..

The guy who started it passed away. This is one of 2 pickups he had. The other one is on the east coast and the other buyer put it on a more modern frame etc0

Welcome aboard! I have a couple of these, a 46 and a 47. Mostly original except for the 39 Hudson straight 8 in the 47. You need to get a 46/47 Parts car, or parts thereof, as they are identical, from cab forward to the trucks, and much more available.
If you're in CA, call Jason Fisher of Bill Albrights Vintage Coach, in Fontana. (909) 823-9168 and/or
He would most likely have what you need. I'm scrapping a 46 but I'm on the right coast and have scavenged the grill, dash etc for my stuff. There are other people out west also who have this stuff. Just ask for what you need here on the forum.
good luck, and send me your name, address and SN of the truck (Passenger side door post) and I'll include you in the roster.

I have a spare set of front fenders, hood, grill. I am still going through boxes of parts0

Is the dashboard welded in, in the '46-7's, as it is in the earlier Hudsons? Or can one just grind off a few spot welds to get it off? (May be easier to replace the whole dash than to fill in the holes.)

Here is the dash currently http://s44.photobucket.com/user/obball123/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20150117_005.jpg.html?filters%5Balbum_content%5D=2&filters%5Balbum%5D=%2Falbums%2Ff43%2Fobball123%2FMobile+Uploads&sort=1&o=/albums/f43/obball123/Mobile Uploads/WP_20150117_005.jpg0

I can't see the whole dash. From the photo I do not see any part of the dash that is cut up on your truck. From what I see it looks like the missing instrument panel, glove box, ash tray, wiper switch, key switch, start button switch and light button switch are all that is needed to fill in the original looking holes. The radio speaker grill is still on middle of dash. The start button and light button will fill in the two lower rectangle holes on the lower part of the dash. The wiper switch and ash try holes are on top middle of dash. Any missing part of the dash you cannot find in your boxes of parts can be had from any 46-47 Hudson car dash.
You have a very nice looking project. I love the Hudson PUs. Had three 47's until I sold two of then to Randy Peterson last year. He already has one restored. I just didn't have the energy or funds to get three PU's back on the road. So Randy has one ready and the other should also be on the road again this year.
I hope you continue to share photos of your progress. Photos of of the Cad front end would be nice to see.
Does it have Cad motor too?
Lee O'Dell0 -
It did until he pulled it to put a corvette engine in. He was using an 80s Cadillac grill.0
-
Looks great, what year is the engine, how long a project was this?0
-
How did you fit that motor and still have leg room.
Good looking truck.

The engine is a 1952 Chrysler Hemi, 700r4 tranny, Jag rear, Mustang 2 front suspension. The project took 13 years but sheet metal work is what took all the time, the back of the cab was completely rusted away, the bottom half of the grill and about the bottom one forth of the radiator shell were also gone. both doors, the cowl on both sides all fenders and both running boards had serious rust problems. Also the cab floor was rusted away. All of the wood was also rotted away. The PU bed was in good shape but was badly out of alignment. And lastly there was no tail gate or tail lights. Needless to say I threw more than one rusty piece of Terraplane across the garage walked out and did not come back for some time. But I must say the project finally was well worth the work.
Do you know of any other 34 PU's?

tractor
Thanks for sharing photos of your PU. Looks in good condition. Interesting changes to the hood I can see how it was reshaped to match Cadillac grill and cad style tail lights on rear edge of bed sides.
What are your plans for the truck?
Please keep us informed on your progress and photos.
If you can't find a missing part there is sure to be someone that can supply it. Just post the need.
You have just entered the Hudson family. We like to help.
