having real trouble finding new or like new door panels for 51 hudson hornet

im been all over comp.looking for door panels for my 51 hudson hornet 4 dr. step down anyone have any sugjestions if i cant find any i gess ill have to make them some how thats gong to be a lot of trouble never done much of that. thanks

The ones in my 54 were toast... No, I mean that they sat in the high California sun and baked like a grape...  They fell apart when I took them off.  Nothing left for a pattern.  I gave a call to Dr. Doug and he is doing a new set of boards for me.  Give him a  call  317 398-4163.

One thought would be to contact some of the Hudson vendors who advertise in the WTN.  People have Hudson parts cars and sometimes salvage and store that sort of thing (from past parts cars).  So, they would at least have the raw panel, but you would then have to cover it with a similar fabric and / or vinyl to the original one. Or someone might have salvaged some very good ones, years ago, from a wrecked car, where the fabric is still good.

Aside of this you could go to an upholstery shop and buy some of that black waterproof cardboard as originally use, and cut out a whole new panel, then recover it with new material.  It's not that hard to do if you stop and sort of work it out in your mind.

Making up 54 door trim panels is straightforward for an upholsterer. Finding the right materials is another story altogether.

thank you replying theres nothing left of mine will try some ones sugjested. i red on here some were someone said the front shocks really exspencive to use monroe31176 inplace of rp51272 ive seen $200. 170. 139 herd 40-50 i lokked on rock auto about $11 for monroe 31176 each. specs kind of close went on orderd. what is the part called between lower a arm and shock they both bolt to so i can replace that and were might find thanks

SMS in Portland, OR are supposed to have all the dimensions for door panels from all Hudsons.  That being said hows your wallet.  They put my door pull handles on backwards.  54 Hornet. Whatever!

Rob Fayette has the door pulls for everything up to and including 53"s.  He does beautiful work.

Is there anybody interested in finding out a way to easily make a patern for making the inner door and quarter panels.It was used on our 54 Hollywood.  Hudsonly  Ray
