53 Windshield install challenge

So I've read the manual and tips from the forum, but no success on my first attempt to install 1/2 windshield on a 53HH.  The weatherstripping I got from WRP was two-piece.  I managed to get the two corners glued up adequately with weatherstrip adhesive and black RTV to fill gaps.  I dry fitted it in place, seemed OK.  I attempted to use Seals-All tube from a box store, as Ithought was recommended in a previous post, but I know I bought the wrong stuff- did not come in caulk gun tube, and did not go on white.  It set up so fast I had no working time.  And I was not able to get the left and right weatherstrip faces up against the reveal molding.  So...

Any advice on how to get the windshield in place more effectively?

What's the best adhesive for the contact between weatherstrip and reveal molding?

I appreciate any and all tips.  Glass install is challenging!
