Hi All,
Just bought a 1928 Essex Super Six.
My car was originally supplied to New Zealand so is right hand drive, about 15 years ago it was sold to the UK where it spent only about six months before being sold on again to Ireland where it was in Wedding Car Hire service up to six years ago. I bought the car in February of this year. Its previous owner removed its original engine and fitted a Ford 4 cylinder 2.0 liter Pinto engine driving through a 4 speed Ford Transit gearbox, this was done for reliability as a Wedding car. I have its original engine and gearbox which I intend to rebuild in the next couple of years.
In the mean time I would be interested to talk to other owners particularly those with right hand drive cars and UK or Ireland based owners.
Regards
Ensignman

Ensignman, This is my 1936 Hudson Stratton Sport Saloon built in London England and does have the right hand drive. There were a few Hudson's hand built in England in the 30's. This one was built at Coachcraft and was designed by Reid Railton.0

Hi, Ensignman! Glad you're returning the drive train to normal. There is a network of Hudson club members (both present and past) in England and with any luck you'll discover that someone with a '28 Essex lives not far from you! As you may already know, Hudsons and Essexes were assembled in England for many years.

Just wondering if that is the same car that was for sale in Auckland, NZ 10 years or so ago. The owner used it for weddings and had put in a Cortina motor (are they the same as Pinto?). Anyway it sold and I have never heard of it since.
There are many 1928 Essex owners here in NZ - as David mentions above, he has a coupe and I have a couple of coaches as can be seen on my avitar. Our website is http://het.org.nz/ and we have a number of overseas members. New members are always welcome.

Hi All,Many thanks to those of you who have commented on my introductory post & sent welcome messages. You all seem to have great looking cars in super condition. I hope one day I can bring my own car up to show standard.Whilst it looks clean & presentable in my profile photo there is a lot of work that will eventually need to be done.I know the roof lines are wrong over the windscreen, the Chrome needs doing and the upholstery needs to be done because the original seats, door panels and even the headlining were recovered in light grey Vinyl for it's wedding car trade, however for this year I intend driving her as she is.I know of five Essex's in Ireland already so maybe one day we can get a club/chapter up and running.regardsEnsignman0
