It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the water pump pulley is for a 3/4" belt and the generator is for a 1/2" belt. Is that to what you are referring?0

Must be a generator for a power steering system

Russell, that is what I am talking about. I ran up to Glen Johnson's place and looked over his stash of generators (He had about a dozen) and they were all the same size as mine. What are my issues with this setup or where can I get a 3/4 pulley that will fit on the generator?0

Brownie - Here is what you need:
eBay item number:391134150483
It's the wide pulley for the generator on your '54 for car without PS

Jerry, many thanks to you. I bought it yesterday and now it is on its way to me. Another challenge passed and on to the next. Thanks again.0

Good for you, Brownie! Hard to believe that Glen had so many of the narrow pulleys on generators, which would be the rarer of the two. Look forward to seeing your progress.0

The pully made its way in the mail today. NOS but needs a bit of sanding and paint. I am doing shocks today-simple job that should only take a few hours..... I sprayed some paint, and perhaps in the cool, rainy AM I will pull the generator. I am on my 7th day in a row driving this gem. I think in a month or two I will get used to it and I do think I am going to lover her...
Photo was taken on the way home from breakfast. We call ourselves the ROMEO club. (Retired Old Men Eating Out) New tires will be here next week. Looks like another Kodk moment soon?

Aren't you concerned that someone will scratch the paint out in the parking lot while you are having your breakfast?
Neat driver , I'm sure it turns a few heads

Yep. Cool car. Can't wait until I get to be part of a ROMEO club! Great job, Brownie!0

LostMind... Scratch... if someone where to scratch it, it would be hard to find in the all original weathered finish. And what good are they if you cannot drive them. When I get my new tires next week I will start some 50 and 100 mile trips. That is when the fun begins. I love to see the peoples reactions when I drive up next to them and sometimes floor it and pull away. Parking lots are also a ton of fun. People gather around even if they do not like old cars. Kids of all ages love to sit in it and honk the horn. No, I am having too much fun to worry if the finish could be damaged. This winter I plan to totally destroy it with sand paper, new chrome and fresh paint and then I will have the same attitude. They are just cars built to bring us and other joy. Why else would we have them?0
