Hi all, TwoFortyTwos here,

I want to say hello and am excited to take this new journey of restoring a Hudson. I am taking the long expensive route. I want it done right and I want it to last a long time. I recently acquired a 1942 Hudson pickup that came with a 1942 parts vehicle. I am doing research right now to see what I really have and to learn all I can about Hudsons. Funny story, several years back I was combing Internet for parts or pictures of 1958 Chevy Apache because we saved a 3/4 ton from the crusher. In my search I saw a pickup that caught my eye, it was a Hudson!!! From then on, I knew that was my dream truck, so here I am beginning my journey and learning what I can about these wonderful vehicles! Thank you. Hudsonly yours, TwoFortyTwos!!!

Welcome aboard!  Good to have you.  I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information here.

    ----------------------------------------

You'll find a number of Pick-up aficionados on here. I'm sure you'll have been told that the 1942 Pick-up is a rare beast (see Alex Burr's post here : http://www.hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=18&id=2055&limitstart=6&Itemid=1218)

As always the plea is for pictures and more pictures!

You may also want to visit the HET Club website and utilize their forum there too, and then there is the HET Club (group) on Facebook which is very active.

Best advise on finding the fender - be patient, and continue to 'plug away' and make inquiries.

    ----------------------------------------

You may also want to visit the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club website, and consider joining that Club - Members come for the cars, and stick around because of the great folks there!

We hope you enjoy your time here at the Hudson Essex Terraplane 'Open Forum' -

Welcome, two!  Unless you're the "same person", there is another recent '42 purchaser here at this forum as well.  This is a very rare year for Hudson pickups (in fact, it's a very rare year for cars of ANY make!) so you have something unique.

May I suggest that you get in touch with the keeper of the H-E-T club's 1941-47 truck registry and give him the information on your truck, so it can be added?  (There is always the possibility that your very truck is listed on this registry already, by a previous owner, which would give you a glimpse at one or more of its past owners.)  In return, he can probably give you the names of other '42 owners (both in or out of the Club) who might be able to offer you information on your restoration.  The fellow's name is Larry Cramer and his address ("masked" here) is XXXcramerlp@roadrunner.com .  Delete the XXX before sending.  Larry compiles this info for all vehicles, so far as I know -- not just those owned by H-E-T members.
  • Thank you guys! I want to say I have already learned quite a bit reading the posts and helping me to find the vehicle serial number on the block. Last night I took a little wire brush to the location between #1 and #2 exhaust and under all that found that I have matching C-20 serial numbers for the truck and engine. I am so excited and relieved that I have the original engine! My next task will be to find out what my parts vehicle is!!! I will have to tell everyone about that in another post!!! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Welcome again.  Best looking truck on the road.  I just checked the roster and we have 7 42s listed.  As Jon says, email me and we'll get you in the list and see if yours has been registered before.  BTW you didn't mention but the truck SN is on the passenger door post.  That's all we track as people swap engines around.  For instance, I have a 39 Straight Eight in my 47.  I don't need the power, but it fills that long hood up and attracts a lot of attention at the shows.
